SVAIFF KOREA 2026

Silicon Valley AI Film Festival Korea 2026

Official Entry Rules

“My AI film is going to Silicon Valley”

Hosted by E-Park AI Co., Ltd. · Korea AI Marketing Institute

Co-organized by SVAIFF Korea Organizing Committee · MBIG Co., Ltd.

Rules

Entrants agree to these rules on the entry page.

Article 1 (Application and Consent)

① Entering through the official entry route (the official entry page under “Submit” at korea.svaiff.com) constitutes agreement to the Entry Guidelines and these rules. For teams, one representative entrant submits with the consent of the team members and co-rights holders.

② If the Korean version and a translation (English, Chinese, Japanese) differ, the Korean version prevails.

#

Article 2 (Eligibility and Restrictions)

① Individuals or teams may enter regardless of nationality or residence. Entrants under 19 (including team members) must submit the guardian consent form in Appendix 4 when entering; without it, the entry is deemed not received.

② Each individual or team may submit up to five works per category. The same work may be entered in only one category and must have been completed on or after January 1, 2025. The Global AI IDOL Award 2026, held on the same day, is a separate competition, so a work suited to it may be entered in both this festival and the AI IDOL Award.

③ Works already released online or screened or awarded at other festivals may be entered, and this will not count against them in judging. However, the release, screening and award history must be stated truthfully. Works whose copyright has been transferred to others, or that are difficult to enter in the final or release because of distribution or exclusive contracts, must be reported to the secretariat before entering. The secretariat may check against public sources whether the entrant is the maker and rights holder of the work and whether other people’s footage, audio or images were used without permission.

④ The Youth Creator Award is for those under 19 as of November 25, 2026, and the University Creator Award is for students enrolled in or on leave from a university or graduate school in the second semester of 2026; for teams, a majority of members and the representative entrant must qualify. Student status is self-declared at entry, and proof is requested from award candidates only. University students submit a certificate of enrollment or leave issued within 30 days (original plus English or a translation) and complete school email verification; only if a certificate is difficult to obtain may the front of a student ID card be submitted instead. Youth entrants submit an ID or passport showing only their name and date of birth, with the resident registration number suffix, passport number, etc. masked, together with the guardian consent form; files with unmasked numbers are not accepted and will be requested again. For teams, a majority of members and the representative entrant are checked; if not confirmed, the team is removed only from candidacy for that award and keeps its candidacy for other awards. These documents are used only to confirm eligibility for the Youth and University Creator Awards, are destroyed as soon as eligibility confirmation and the objection period (7 days after notification of results) end, and are not provided to the global final organizer (both awards exist only in the Korea competition).

⑤ Officers and employees of the host and organizing institutions, judges and their families may not enter.

#

Article 3 (Use and Disclosure of AI)

① Entries must be generated with AI or made with deep integration of AI, and at least 50% of the visual content or core narrative elements must be generated by or with the help of AI. The ratio is an approximate estimate declared by the entrant; for works mixed with live action, the method and ratio of AI use must be stated.

② Entrants declare that they hold commercial-use rights to the AI tools, open-source models and training data they used. The use of AI is indicated in the end credits or work information.

③ The secretariat and the final organizer may request production records (sample prompts, generated originals, screen recordings of work, etc.) from award candidates and top works in the final. Entrants keep these records until the final ends. Account passwords and API keys are not accepted.

④ Submitting a work made by someone else as one’s own, or disguising handmade footage as an AI work, results in disqualification.

#

Article 4 (Submission and Revision)

① Together with the video, entrants enter a creative statement and 3 evidence scenes (Entry Guidelines, “Creative Statement and Evidence Scenes”) directly on the entry page. The time of writing (before, during or after production) is marked; finished works may be described in retrospect with no deduction. Writing, design and foreign-language ability are not scored. The secretariat may request additional scripts, storyboards and process materials from award candidates only.

② Before confirming the judging version, entrants may freely edit or withdraw their entry until the deadline under “My Entry” on the entry page (the edit link in the confirmation email).

③ From October 25, when entries open, entrants may click “Confirm judging version” on the entry page, and first-round screening begins on November 1 in the order of confirmation. If the video is replaced after confirmation, any scores given up to that point are void and judging starts over. Corrections of typos in the creative statement or question answers are not treated as replacing the video. Works not confirmed at the deadline (November 25, 24:00) are automatically confirmed as the version at that time, and files replaced after the deadline are not reflected.

④ The uploaded video file must play through to the end. For minor omissions such as file errors or missing subtitles, one remedy is requested (reply within 3 days); if not remedied, the work is excluded from judging. Prohibited content under Article 10 ② is not eligible for remedy.

⑤ Please notify the secretariat by email of any corrections to submitted question answers or the creative statement.

⑥ Entries must be complete works with a beginning and an end. Test clips, trailers and teasers, demonstrations or demos of generation tools, screen recordings of work or editing software, unfinished cuts, and excerpts of only part of another work are not judged. Intended forms such as experimental, abstract, silent, still-image or repetitive structures are regarded as complete works; stating that intent in the creative statement helps the review.

⑦ The uploaded file must contain a video track, and its actual length must not differ significantly (within 10 seconds) from the declared running time. The recommended format is MP4 (H.264), 1080p, with sound. If the resolution is very low (below 360p) or most of the work is black, frozen or silent without the reason being given in the creative statement, the secretariat will request confirmation, and the remedy procedure is the same as in ④. If it is an intended form, telling us the reason completes the check.

⑧ Work information, question answers and the creative statement must be written truthfully based on the actual work. If fields are filled with meaningless characters, the same text is copied into several fields, or content unrelated to the video is entered, a remedy will be requested; if not remedied, the work may be excluded from judging. Writing and foreign-language ability are not scored.

#

Article 5 (Judging)

① Judging proceeds in the order of eligibility review → first-round screening (each eligible work is watched from start to finish by at least one judge) → independent re-review → main round → final judging. First-round screening runs from November 1, during the entry period, in the order in which judging versions are confirmed. The eligibility review includes a preliminary quality check (Article 4 ⑥–⑧), and every eligible work that passes it is watched from start to finish by at least one judge. The secretariat refers to automated check results, but a person checks directly before deciding on a remedy request or exclusion from judging; when excluding a work, the secretariat states the criteria and grounds and explains how to request a review under ⑤.

② The total score is 100 points. Completed work 75 points: story and structure (genre purpose) 25 / direction and overall completeness 20 / artistic and visual expression 15 / execution of AI results 10 / editing, music and sound 5. Creative process 25 points: rationale for intent and design 10 / understanding of research and references 5 / failure, revision and improvement 5 / own role and consistency 5. The creative process is evaluated by comparing the creative statement and evidence scenes with the actual video.

③ Each item is rated on a 0–10 level and converted to its points (converted score = points × level ÷ 10). For documentaries the first item is read as “question of inquiry and factual structure,” for advertising as “target and message,” and for music videos as “interpretation of the music and rhythm.”

④ Violations of rights or ethics are not handled by deducting points but by disqualification under Article 10. The amount of AI used, academic background and the price of the tools used are not scored, and no extra points are given simply for well-written explanatory materials.

⑤ Judges with a conflict of interest with an entrant recuse themselves from judging that work. Individual scores are not disclosed, and no objection may be raised against judgments of artistic merit. Procedural errors in entry or eligibility decisions may be raised for review within 7 days after notification of results.

⑥ To verify entry information, check for file damage and duplicates, confirm that entrants can be contacted, and support judging operations, the secretariat may use automated checking tools and AI-based analysis tools. In this process, a low-resolution copy of the work file and work information (title, synopsis and the roles listed in the credits, excluding names) may be temporarily sent to a contracted cloud processing provider and are deleted immediately after processing. The provider is contractually barred from using entries for AI training (Article 9 ③), and the name of the provider is announced on the website. Entrants’ names and contact details are not sent for AI analysis. Eligibility, selection or elimination is never decided by automated checks or AI analysis alone; final decisions are made by the secretariat and the judges. If you disagree with a result, you may request a review under the procedure in ⑤.

#

Article 6 (Awards)

① Each work may receive only one award. If a work ranks first for two awards, it receives the one with the larger prize, and the other award goes to the next-ranked work for that award. However, a film category award and Best AI Idol may be received together. Awards are given to 19 prize winners (individuals/teams) in 12 categories and 31 Global Final Encouragement Award winners, 50 in total.

② If no work reaches the award standard, the award may not be given.

③ Award candidates are contacted by email in early December; if there is no reply by the deadline given at that time, the next-ranked work may be selected. Candidates are confirmed as winners after submitting the Award Candidate Confirmation Form (including confirmation of global final entry for prize candidates), and results are announced at the awards ceremony on December 17.

④ For the December 17 ceremony, winners may choose to attend in person, connect live via Zoom, or designate a proxy. Those choosing Zoom must join the connection rehearsal on the morning of the ceremony. All winners submit a pre-recorded acceptance video of 30–45 seconds, which is screened instead if live participation becomes difficult, for example if the connection drops. The award stands even if the winner cannot attend the ceremony. Each individual or team has one seat in the winners’ section.

Article 7 (Obligation to Enter the Global Final)

SVAIFF KOREA 2026 is an independent competition hosted and run by E-Park AI Co., Ltd. The Silicon Valley global final is run independently by a separate partner organizer (Star Alliance Culture Inc.), which sets the final’s judging, schedule and conditions.

① An award in the Korea competition is conditional on entering the winning work in the Silicon Valley global final and completing the required procedures (entry and registration, the work file and English subtitles, materials such as the introduction, credits and poster, and confirmation of co-rights holders’ consent). This applies to the 19 prize winners (individuals/teams) in 12 categories (including Best AI Idol).

② If they win, entrants agree that the final organizer may use the winning work for online and offline promotion and release it online for non-commercial purposes (official and third-party platforms, including the Audience Award streaming vote). They also acknowledge the 12-month right of first collaboration and the technical verification described in the Entry Guidelines. Before the final entry, the secretariat will notify winners in writing again of the final organizer’s latest conditions.

③ The secretariat collects the materials of prize-winning works and submits them to the final, and the host pays their final evaluation fee (US$99 per work). Attending the US ceremony is not mandatory.

④ Among the winners of the top three awards by prize amount (Grand Prize, Best AI Idol, AI Narrative Film — Best), those who wish to attend the ceremony receive a round-trip air ticket to the US (one economy seat; one person per team). The air ticket is provided only if the winner attends the ceremony; it is not provided otherwise and is not replaced with cash or other benefits. All costs other than the air ticket, such as accommodation, meals, local transport and visas, are borne by the attendee.

⑤ Global Final Encouragement Award winners become eligible to enter the global final and decide for themselves whether to enter. If they enter, they pay the final evaluation fee (US$99 per work) themselves and follow the final organizer’s conditions in ②, and the secretariat explains how to enter. The award stands even if they do not enter.

⑥ The global final category into which each Korea winning work (including the Youth and University Creator Awards and Best AI Idol) is entered will be decided by the host’s jury to match the global award categories. The final entry obligation of prize-winning works and the payment of their evaluation fee by the host remain unaffected.

⑦ Best AI Idol is the top award of the Global AI IDOL Award 2026 and is also presented as one of the prize categories of SVAIFF KOREA 2026. The Best AI Idol winning work is entered in the Silicon Valley global final on the same basis as SVAIFF KOREA 2026 prize-winning works, and the final’s evaluation fee ($99 per work) is paid by the host.

#

Article 8 (Cancellation of Awards and Protection)

① An award is cancelled if refusal or withdrawal of a prize-winning work from the final, failure to submit materials without good reason, false declarations, rights infringement, or prohibited content under Article 10 is confirmed.

② Before cancellation, the reason and a remedy deadline (14 days after notice) are sent by email, and an opportunity to explain is given. However, prohibited content under Article 10 ② results in immediate disqualification and cancellation once the facts are confirmed. Upon cancellation, the prize money, certificate, trophy and any additional prize must be returned, and the award title and award logo (the laurel-shaped mark used on posters, etc.) may no longer be used. A cancelled award passes to the next-ranked work in the same category; if there is no eligible work, it is left vacant.

③ Awards are not cancelled merely because of reasons not attributable to the entrant, such as cancellation or rescheduling of the final, visa refusal or force majeure, or because the entrant refused conditions not notified in advance, such as new costs or transfers of rights arising after entry.

#

Article 9 (Copyright and Use by the Festival)

① Copyright remains with the entrant. The festival does not acquire any rights by reason of entry or award.

② Entrants grant the festival free, non-exclusive use within the following scope. All entries: viewing and copying for judging (destroyed 6 months after judging). Main-round works and winning works: screening at the December 17 event, use of stills, posters, synopses and excerpts of up to 3 minutes for promotion and press (for 2 years after the event), listing in the award archive, and submission to the final organizer. Online release of the full work requires separate consent (use by the final organizer follows Article 7).

③ The festival and judges do not use entries for AI training, fine-tuning or datasets, and do not provide them to others for such purposes.

④ Support for distribution and IP commercialization is not a condition of entry and is arranged by separate contract with winners who wish it. Participation has no bearing on judging.

#

Article 10 (Entrant Warranties and Prohibited Content)

① Entrants warrant that they have secured the necessary rights to music, images, video sources, fonts, source works, trademarks, and performers’ likenesses and voices, and that they have complied with the terms of the AI services used. Works based on an original work must have adaptation permission.

② The following works are disqualified immediately, with no chance to remedy, once the facts are confirmed, and legal responsibility lies with the entrant: works that synthesize a real person’s face or voice without permission or present words the person never said as fact; sexual deepfakes; works depicting children or adolescents sexually (including virtual characters); defamation or incitement to hatred or discrimination; exposure of personal information; and works that manipulate facts to mislead.

③ If a third party claims rights infringement, the entrant resolves it on their own responsibility, and the festival may withhold screening, promotion and awards until it is resolved. The entrant compensates the festival for damage caused by a breach of the entrant’s warranties (excluding damage caused by the festival’s intent or negligence).

#

Article 11 (Prize Money and Taxes)

① E-Park AI Co., Ltd. pays prize money in Korean won to an account in the winner’s name within 30 days after the ceremony. For teams, payment is made to each member according to the distribution ratio submitted by the representative entrant. Overseas remittance fees are borne by the winner.

② Prize money is classified as other income. For residents of Korea, as prize money from a competition in which many compete for ranking, 80% is recognized as necessary expenses, and 4.4% of the amount paid (including local income tax) is withheld. No tax is withheld on amounts of KRW 250,000 or less per payment.

③ For non-residents, tax is withheld on Korean-source other income (up to 22% including local income tax); to receive a reduction under a tax treaty, a certificate of residence or similar document must be submitted before payment.

④ Additional prizes and air tickets may be taxed at market value. If an award is cancelled, the prize money received must be returned, and the secretariat will advise on tax handling.

#

Article 12 (Personal Information)

① For entry, judging and contact, we collect name, email, phone number, date of birth, affiliation, team member information and work information, and keep them for 1 year after the event. For prize payment and tax withholding, we receive winners’ unique identification numbers, bank accounts and country of residence and keep them for the period required by tax law (5 years). From Youth and University Creator Award candidates we receive eligibility documents (certificate of enrollment or leave, school email, a date-of-birth document with numbers masked, guardian consent form), use them only to confirm eligibility, and destroy them as soon as eligibility confirmation and the objection period (7 days after notification of results) end.

② The name, contact details and work information of prize winners and of Encouragement Award winners who choose to enter the final are provided by email and online, after the award is confirmed, to the global final organizer in the United States (Star Alliance Culture Inc.) for the final entry, and are kept for 1 year after the final ends. Eligibility documents for the Youth and University Creator Awards are not provided to the final organizer.

③ You may refuse consent, but if you refuse the required items, you cannot enter; if you refuse provision overseas, you cannot enter the final, so a prize winner’s award may be cancelled and an Encouragement Award winner cannot enter the final. For those under 14, a legal representative gives consent.

#

Article 13 (Screening and Changes to the Event)

① The festival takes the necessary steps for screened works, such as recommendation for exemption from rating classification, and entrants cooperate in submitting materials.

② If the schedule, venue or format changes due to force majeure, we will notify you promptly on the website and by email. Once entries have opened, the rules will not be changed to the disadvantage of entrants.

#

Article 14 (Disputes)

These rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are first resolved through consultation, and any lawsuit is brought before the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act.
