Global AI IDOL Award 2026 · Pre-showcase — Official Participation Rules

Participation Rules

Article 1 (Application and Consent)

① Participating through the official entry route (the official entry page under “Enter AI IDOL” at korea.svaiff.com) constitutes agreement to the Participation Guidelines and these rules. For teams, one representative participant enters with the consent of the team members and co-rights holders.

② If the Korean version and a translation (English, Chinese, Japanese) differ, the Korean version prevails.

#

Article 2 (Eligibility and Restrictions)

① Individuals or teams may participate regardless of nationality or residence. Participants under 19 (including team members) must submit the guardian consent form on the entry page when entering; without it, the entry is deemed not received.

② One work per team. The work must have been completed on or after January 1, 2025.

③ Works already released or screened or awarded at other competitions may be entered, and this will not count against them in judging. However, the release, screening and award history must be stated truthfully. Works whose copyright has been transferred to others, or works that are difficult to enter in the final or release because of distribution or exclusive contracts, must be reported to the secretariat before entry.

④ Officers and employees of the host and organizing institutions, judges and their families may not participate.

#

Article 3 (Use and Disclosure of AI)

① A work must have at least one of its character, video or music made with AI or with the help of AI, and the creative statement must describe what the people and the AI each did.

② Participants declare that they hold commercial-use rights to the AI tools, open-source models and training data used. The use of AI is stated in the video credits or in the work information.

③ The secretariat and the final organizer may ask award candidates for production records (example prompts, raw generations, screen captures of the work process, etc.). Participants keep these records until the final is over. Account passwords and API keys are never requested.

④ Submitting someone else’s work as one’s own, or presenting a performance actually given by people as an AI work, leads to disqualification.

#

Article 4 (Submission and Revision)

① Participants upload the four items in the Participation Guidelines “What do I submit?” on the entry page.

② Before the deadline, entries may be edited or withdrawn under “My Entry”. After the deadline they cannot be changed.

③ For minor omissions such as file errors, one remedy is requested (reply within 3 days); if not remedied, the work is excluded from judging. Prohibited content under Article 10 ② cannot be remedied.

#

Article 5 (Judging)

① Rights are checked first as pass or fail (Article 10), and works that pass are judged on the five judging criteria in the Participation Guidelines.

② The Best AI Idol jury of five judges the works. Judges with a conflict of interest with a participant recuse themselves from judging that work. Individual scores are not disclosed, and no objection may be raised against judgments of artistic merit. Procedural errors may be raised for review within 7 days of notification of results.

③ To verify entry information, check for damaged or duplicate files, confirm contact details and support the judging process, the secretariat may use automated checking tools and AI-based analysis tools. In this process, a low-resolution copy of the work file and the work information (title, description and credit roles, without names) may be sent temporarily to a contracted cloud processing provider and are deleted right after processing. The provider is contractually barred from using works for AI training (Article 9 ③), and the provider’s name is announced on the website. Participants’ names and contact details are not sent for AI analysis. Eligibility, selection or elimination is never decided by automated checks or AI analysis alone; final decisions are made by the secretariat and the judges.

Article 6 (Showcase Selection and Awards)

① Up to 6 Showcase Selection teams are announced on December 11, and these teams take the Seoul stage on December 17. Stage arrangements and technical specifications are provided separately to the selected teams.

② Best AI Idol: 1 person (team) receives a cash prize of KRW 3.5 million (before tax), a certificate and the worldwide common trophy.

③ If no work reaches the award standard, the award may not be given.

④ A SVAIFF KOREA 2026 film category award and Best AI Idol may be received together.

⑤ Award candidates are contacted by email in early December; if they do not reply within the deadline given, the next-ranked work may be selected. Results are announced at the December 17 awards ceremony.

⑥ For the December 17 ceremony, winners may choose to attend in person, join live by Zoom, or name a proxy. Those choosing Zoom must join the connection rehearsal on the morning of the ceremony. Winners pre-record a 30–45 second acceptance video, which is screened instead if the connection drops or live proceedings are difficult. The award stands even if the winner cannot attend.

Article 7 (SVAIFF Award System and the Global Final)

① Best AI Idol is the top award of the Global AI IDOL Award 2026 and is also presented as one of the prize categories of SVAIFF KOREA 2026. The Best AI Idol winning work is entered in the Silicon Valley global final on the same basis as SVAIFF KOREA 2026 prize-winning works, and the final’s evaluation fee ($99 per work) is paid by the host.

② By participating, participants agree that their work is also placed in the SVAIFF KOREA 2026 award system as a Best AI Idol candidate.

③ The Best AI Idol award is conditional on entering the winning work in the Silicon Valley global final and completing the required steps (entry and registration, the work file with English subtitles, materials such as an introduction, credits and poster, and confirmation of co-rights holders’ consent). Participants agree that, if they win, the final organizer may use the winning work for online and offline promotion and release it online for non-commercial purposes (including official and third-party platforms). They also acknowledge the final conditions set by the final organizer, including the 12-month right of first collaboration and technical verification. Under the 12-month right of first collaboration, if a final winning work is to be commercially developed (adaptation, investment, production or distribution) with a third party within 12 months, the final organizer is notified of the terms and may collaborate first on the same terms (reply within 15 business days); it is not an assignment of copyright. Before the final entry, the secretariat will again provide the final organizer’s latest conditions in writing. Refusing or withdrawing the final entry cancels the award (Article 8).

④ The Silicon Valley global final is run independently by a separate partner organizer (Star Alliance Culture Inc.); the final’s judging, schedule, conditions and entry category are decided by the final organizer and the host’s jury committee. Entering the final does not mean winning at the final.

⑤ Among winners of the top three prizes of SVAIFF KOREA 2026 (Grand Prize, Best AI Idol, Best AI Film (Narrative)), those who wish to attend the U.S. awards ceremony receive a round-trip flight to the U.S. (economy class for 1 person; 1 person per team). The flight is provided only for attending the ceremony; if the winner does not attend, it is not provided and is not replaced with cash or other benefits. All other costs such as lodging, meals, local transport and visas are borne by the attendee. Attending the U.S. ceremony is not mandatory.

Article 8 (Cancellation of Awards and Protection)

① An award is canceled if refusal or withdrawal of the final entry, failure to submit materials without good reason, false declarations, rights infringement or prohibited content under Article 10 is confirmed.

② Before cancellation, the reason and a remedy deadline (14 days after notice) are sent by email and an opportunity to explain is given. However, prohibited content under Article 10 ② leads to immediate disqualification and cancellation once confirmed. If canceled, the prize money, certificate and trophy must be returned and the award title and award logo may no longer be used. A canceled award passes to the next-ranked work, or remains vacant if there is no eligible work.

③ An award is not canceled merely because of reasons not attributable to the participant, such as cancellation or rescheduling of the final, visa refusal or force majeure, or because the participant refused conditions not notified in advance, such as new costs or assignment of rights arising after entry.

#

Article 9 (Copyright and Use)

① Rights to the character IP, video and audio track remain with the participant. The host sets no right-of-first-negotiation, exclusivity or assignment clauses, and commercialization happens only by separate contract when the participant wishes. However, if a winning work is entered in the global final, the final conditions set by the final organizer, including the 12-month right of first collaboration and technical verification, apply (Article 7 ③), and the secretariat will notify the participant of those conditions in writing again before the final entry.

② Participants grant the host free, non-exclusive use within the following scope. All entries: viewing and copying for judging (destroyed 6 months after judging). Showcase Selection works and winning works: screening and performance at the December 17 event, use of images, descriptions and excerpts of up to 3 minutes for promotion and press (for 2 years after the event), listing in the award archive, and submission to the final organizer. Online release of the full work requires separate consent. Stage performance videos and photos of Showcase Selection teams may be used for event records and promotion (for 2 years after the event).

③ The host and the judges do not use entries (including characters, video, audio tracks and voices) for AI training, fine-tuning or datasets, and do not provide them to others for such purposes.

#

Article 10 (Music and Voice Rights and Prohibited Content)

① Participants warrant that they have secured the necessary rights to the composition, lyrics and arrangement of the song, the audio track, voices, choreography, and costume and character design, and that they have complied with the terms of the AI services used (including commercial use).

② The following works are disqualified immediately once the facts are confirmed, without an opportunity to remedy, and legal responsibility lies with the participant: works that copy or imitate a real person’s voice, face or name without permission; works that use another person’s song without permission; works that present words never said as fact; sexual deepfakes; works that sexualize children or adolescents (including virtual characters); works promoting defamation, hate or discrimination; works exposing personal information; and works that manipulate facts to mislead.

③ If a human singer’s or performer’s voice or performance was used, the creative statement must state that their permission was obtained.

④ If a third party claims infringement, the participant resolves it at their own responsibility, and the host may suspend screening, performance, promotion and awarding until it is resolved. The participant compensates the host for damage caused by a breach of the participant’s warranties (except damage caused by the host’s intent or negligence).

#

Article 11 (Prize Money and Taxes)

① Prize money is paid by E-Park AI Co., Ltd. in Korean won to an account in the winner’s name within 30 days of the award. For teams, it is paid to each member according to the split submitted by the representative participant. Overseas transfer fees are borne by the winner.

② Prize money is other income. For residents of Korea, as prize money from a competition in which many compete for ranking, 80% is recognized as necessary expenses and 4.4% of the payment (including local income tax) is withheld. No tax is withheld on payments of KRW 250,000 or less.

③ For non-residents, tax is withheld as Korean-source other income (up to 22% including local income tax); to receive a tax-treaty reduction, a certificate of residence or similar must be submitted before payment.

④ Flights may be taxed at market value. If an award is canceled, the prize money received must be returned, and the secretariat will advise on tax handling.

#

Article 12 (Personal Information and Overseas Transfer)

① For entry, judging and contact, name, email, phone, date of birth, affiliation, team member information and work information are collected and kept for 1 year after the event. For prize payment and tax withholding, winners’ unique identification numbers, accounts and countries of residence are collected and kept for the period required by tax law (5 years).

② Once confirmed as the Best AI Idol winner, the representative participant’s name, English name and contact details and the work information are provided to the U.S. global final organizer (Star Alliance Culture Inc.) for the final entry and kept for 1 year after the final ends. Participants give separate consent to this overseas transfer on the entry page. Without consent, the entry is still accepted but is excluded from Best AI Idol candidacy.

③ Consent may be refused, but refusing the required items makes entry impossible. For children under 14, the legal guardian consents.

#

Article 13 (Event Changes)

① The host takes the necessary steps for works screened or performed, such as recommendations for exemption from screening ratings, and participants cooperate in submitting materials.

② If the schedule, venue or format changes due to force majeure, this is announced promptly on the website and by email. Once entry has opened, these rules will not be changed to participants’ disadvantage.

#

Article 14 (Disputes)

These rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are first resolved by consultation, and litigation is brought before the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act.
